On June 24th we join hands with the all the world in the celebration of "International UFO Research Day."

This date was selected because most books point out this day as the start or beginning of a global public interest for the UFO phenomenon as a result of the experience of a lonely pilot called Kenneth Arnold who witness a squadron of unidentified flying objects over Mount Ranier. From his sighting the descriptive term "FLYING SAUCER" was born. The image drawn by artist James Neff depicted on this page dramatizes the encounter Arnold experienced that day.

Inmediately after Arnold's encounter the civilian population remained in a state of alert watching the skies. Numerous UFO sightings were reported; more than 100 in just two weeks. The term "flying saucer" travelled around the world in an instant. From the many cases reported in those first two weeks came the famous and controversial Roswell Crash in July 2nd.

Kenneth Arnold had his 15 minutes of world fame but at a cost. Skeptics quickly stepped over Arnold's credibility, sanity, and reputation. His encounter with something unknown baptized him as the first UFO witness to be ridiculed by the american press. It has been said that Arnold regret making his experience public but he always kept a firm stand over his testimony.

Today we make a call for the whole world to join together for a few moments to scan the skies and consider seriously that in that infinite universe of stars, planets, and galaxies there can be other thinking beings that may be visiting Earth.

Project Condor, founded in Argentina, has become the biggest network of organizations in the Americas commited to watch the skies on a regular and methodic basis in constant alert for a UFO sighting.

On June 24th observers from all these countries will unite as brothers in this event: Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, México, Puerto Rico, Perú, Colombia, Spain, United States, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Dutch Antilles, and others. UFO sighting reports should be mailed to your local or preferred UFO research organization with copy to CEUFO at 2001@cpenet.com.ar. The world watch will begin at 10:00 PM EST Saturday June 23rd and will end on Sunday June 24th at 2:00 AM EST.
